Job description

Residential Support Worker

Children and Young People

Location: Halifax

Employment Type: Full-Time

Hours: 40 hours per week, 12-hour shifts (Days & Nights, 9am-9pm and 9pm-9am)

Salary: £12.85 - £13.51 per hour (£26,728 - £28,100 annually)

Requirements: Must be at least 23 years of age. Driving Licence desirable.

This is a specialist care and education provision for children and young people (aged 11-19) with complex needs such as Autism, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Issues, and other health needs.

As a residential support worker, you should be highly motivated, committed, and passionate about delivering high-quality care in an outstanding residential setting. You will support the care team, contributing to positive outcomes for the children and young people and the overall service.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff such as psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to achieve the best outcomes.

It is desirable to hold a Diploma 3 / 4 in Health and Social Care; however, applications without this qualification will also be considered.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Respond to and meet the needs of children/young people as per individual care plans.
  2. Work collaboratively with young people, families, social workers, and relevant agencies.
  3. Ensure all work complies with legislative, procedural, and good practice standards.
  4. Prioritize the safety and welfare of young people.
  5. Perform daily tasks necessary for the well-being of young people, akin to a good parent.
  6. Participate in implementing, monitoring, and reviewing care, health, and education plans.
  7. Assist in managing admissions and ensure the smooth running of the home in the manager's absence.
  8. Take on the role of key worker for individual young people as required.
  9. Safeguard and promote the welfare and rights of children and young people.
  10. Involve children and young people in the daily running of the home and their care planning.
  11. Contribute to planning and implementing discharge and aftercare plans.
