JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about driving equipment performance, optimizing maintenance strategies, and leading impactful technical projects? Join our team as a Reliability Technician and play a key role in ensuring our operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

The Facilities Reliability Technician operates across all three sites as primary support for inspecting, servicing, cleaning, troubleshooting, and performing preventive corrective maintenance tasks on equipment. Technicians use problem solving skills working with industrial equipment and technologies. Goal is to keep the equipment maintained and operational to ensure the safety of the employees, the quality of the product, and the efficiency of equipment and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads the implementation and execution of preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance for equipment and systems within area of responsibility. Provide reporting to management of daily progress and issues
  • Ensures safe operation of equipment and systems including all components. Problem solving through observation of electrical/mechanical devices in operation and removal of defective parts. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Parts Management – Assist in anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job
  • Continuous Improvement and Regulatory Compliance – Identify opportunities for improved safety, efficiency, cost saving or regulatory gaps and develop strategies to support.
  • Reporting & Documentation – Prepares Regular Monitor and analysis reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified/Qualification to repair equipment and systems within area of responsibility. Certified/Qualification can be via recognized institute and or Certification of training from Manufacturer via Employer.
  • Applicable Trade – Millwright, Electrician, HVAC; Certified electrical Technician or technologist.
  • 3-5 years’ experience of hands‑on experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of set‑up techniques for equipment and systems within area of responsibility; reliability of equipment.
  • Experience in analyzing equipment and systems to calibrate, service, trouble shoot and install.
  • Comprehending mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals.
  • Experience in analyzing equipment and systems to calibrate, service, trouble shoot and install.
  • Proficient in computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical and gas schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals as required for area of responsibility.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
