Role Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse/ Registered Nurse is responsible for meeting with fertility patients to implement the medication protocol designed by the Medical Director and providing further information/assessments as required. The RPN/RN will work closely with the nursing department and collaborate with all other departments at Care. This role requires a courteous and compassionate approach to working with patients and providing care.

Role Responsibilities

  • Meet with fertility patients to implement medication protocols as designed by the Medical Director
  • Act as a liaison to facilitate communication between patients and physicians
  • Arrange for prescription medication ordering and maintain inventory records per College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario requirements
  • Schedule procedures and rotate through OR and cycle monitoring positions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Manage medical supply inventory and place orders as necessary
  • Teach/administer SC and IM injections
  • Provide patient education and support during IVF, FET, and IUI cycles
  • Assist with intrauterine inseminations as directed by physicians
  • Maintain accurate logs of IUI, IVF, and FET procedures
  • Answer patient calls, emails, and messages daily
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Formal Education or Equivalent

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • BCLS certification preferred
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences preferred

Experience

  • 2-3 years of medical/surgical experience, preferably in fertility care
  • Previous work experience in a women’s healthcare setting is preferred
