Responsibilities

The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating specialized mental health and substance use services and assigning requests for consultation. The role prioritizes consultations based on urgency and assessment of patients, provides consistent liaison with physicians, nursing unit staff, and other health care professionals, supports care planning and education for health care professionals, networks with community programs, and facilitates transition to the community. The coordinator also supports care coordination with relevant community and emergency services partners.

About Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre has 44 acute care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Highlights include an endoscopy suite, two state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms, a procedure room, ambulatory clinics (including cancer and hemodialysis), medical and surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds), three intensive care units, minor surgeries, and seven maternity rooms for labour, delivery, and post‑partum. The facility also hosts a health unit and primary care clinic that serve the community.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” reflecting the region’s resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry, and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. With a population of over 21,400 and servicing an area of approximately 70,000, the community offers a cultural centre, library, theatre, and art space, seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one secondary school, and a Northern Lights College campus.
