DEPARTMENT: DIALYSIS

POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

UNION AFFILIATION: ONA

STATUS: FULL-TIME

WAGE RATE: $39.07 - $56.00

Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the promotion of health by utilizing the assessment of, the provision of care and the treatment of adults with renal failure during the chronic phase of their illness through hemodialysis treatments.

Note: Responsibilities are encompassed in providing nursing care to adults with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility
  • Recent hemodialysis experience within the last two years
  • Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
  • Experience with central lines required
  • Interest in care of patients with chronic illness and treatment
  • Excellent interviewing and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent demonstrated leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
  • Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
  • Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
  • Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment

Preferred

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing
  • Nephrology certificate preferred or renal module of critical care certificate
