About the position:

As the Regional Health and Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in implementing Univar’s strategic initiatives to achieve world-class standards in protecting the health and safety of our employees. This position provides leadership and guidance to regional operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and fostering a strong safety culture. You will act as a liaison between national health and safety programs and regional operations, lead audits, support emergency response planning, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.

What You’ll Do:
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and company standards across regional branches.
  • Serve as a resource for leadership, Joint Health & Safety Committees, and employees to promote safety culture.
  • Guide and participate in EHS risk assessments and certifications (ISO Standards, Responsible Distribution Canada).
  • Lead emergency response planning and act as regional technical advisor for ERAP
  • Conduct and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Deliver EHS training programs (New Hire Orientation, TDG, WHMIS, etc.).
  • Lead EHS audits and assist operations in addressing findings.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, provincial, and local health and safety regulations and emerging requirements.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
  • 7+ years of health and safety oversight for multiple locations, ideally in chemical or related industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough familiarity with OSHA and provincial equivalents for chemical facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage compliance, conduct audits, and develop training programs.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.

Pay and Benefits:

The annual expected salary range for this position is $89,450 – 100,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
