Job description
POSITION OVERVIEW

The Regional Director, Strategy Implementation and support works in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of the region, to create strategic plans to support BDC’s initiatives, and with the Area VPs to implement operational plans and to monitor their alignment with national plans. They will lead a team of professionals who will support field management in that implementation of plans as well as develop regional budgets for both Financing and Advisory groups.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • Work closely with the Senior Vice President of the region to develop a strategic and tactical plan for supporting the organization’s initiatives and measuring their impacts

  • Work closely with internal partners (i.e. Financing, Advisory services, Marketing, Corporate Relations, Credit and Facilities) to be aware and be part of the regional strategies, implementation plans and objectives ensuring alignment with corporate objectives

  • Lead the development of regional budgets (i.e. resources, training, advertising, sponsorships, regional activities, expenses, etc.) for both the Financing and Advisory groups and monitor results

  • Provide proactive direction, support and recommendation to the VPs in developing, implementing and monitoring operational plans ensuring alignment with national plans

  • Lead and/or participate in the analysis and recommendations of initiatives (including process management), benchmark, discuss best practices and make recommendations to the functional groups on the adjustments required as part of continuous improvement

  • Manage a team of professionals whose primary role involves supporting field management in the implementation of the national plans and other initiatives

  • Play a leadership role as a change agent by supporting BDC policies, developing strategies for continuous improvement, promoting and encouraging process enhancements and participating in pilot projects

  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with internal partners to ensure and promote the timely dissemination of information, implementation of initiatives and achievement of objectives

  • Plan, develop and implement a strategy to ensure training and coaching needs are identified and addressed via Client Experience team, manage the local training and monitor progress of program delivery

  • Work closely with field management to develop short and long-term marketing plans that include strategic and tactical plans for alliances/partnerships ensuring alignment with national strategies and objectives for stakeholder relations

  • Keep abreast, promote and lead the change strategy by supporting BDC projects, processes and orientations on the delivery of services in your region

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration.

  • 10 years or more of relevant experience in the banking or financial sector, with at least 5 years in a management role

  • Experience in managing a business center and worked with various stake holders (i.e. Advisory, services, Marketing, Corporate Financing, etc.)

  • Ability to quickly identify the business context and key issues in order to spot the best options in a realization plan

  • Ability to anticipate the long-term impact of decisions and take a broad approach to problem solving

  • Ability to understand economic and business trends and issues that affect SMEs, including financial and non-financial service offerings that could affect BDC's strategy

  • Strong financial and operational skills and sound judgment

  • Analytical, results-based leadership style

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) with a high level of business acumen

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills

  • Ability to inspire and motivate diverse, multidisciplinary teams

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
