The opportunity

Please note this is a 12-month, maternity leave replacement contract. Heart & Stroke offers a hybrid work option, and candidates may work from anywhere in Canada.

Join Heart & Stroke as a Recruitment Coordinator and help us build the team that saves lives and promotes healthier communities! In this dynamic role, you’ll partner with HR Managers and internal stakeholders to deliver end-to-end recruitment support that drives our mission forward.

From crafting compelling job postings and sourcing top talent to conducting prescreens and completing reference checks, you’ll ensure a seamless candidate experience every step of the way. You’ll manage interview scheduling, maintain accurate recruitment reports, and keep candidates engaged throughout their journey. Beyond recruitment, you’ll contribute to exciting ad hoc HR projects, adding variety and impact to your work. How you will make an impact every day
Support Recruitment Activities:
  • Prepare job postings (internal and external)
  • Contribute to recruitment strategy meetings
  • Assess and shortlist candidates based on job description requirements.
  • Update and maintain candidate status in applicant tracking system (JazzHR) as well as with each specific HR Manager
  • Conduct prescreens, record candidate responses, summarize outcomes and bring forward recommendations
  • Outbound recruitment and familiarity with Not-for-Profit sector roles.
  • Create interview guides to reflect required skill, competency and values requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and concise records and reports concerning all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Persuasively sell the organization, role, and community to candidates
  • Provide regular updates to applicants/candidates via email on their status in the search process
  • Complete reference checks
  • Update and maintain recruitment vacancy reports
  • Leads the relationship development, recruitment, onboarding and orientation process for Talent and Diversity co-op students.
Participate in HR Projects:
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of recruitment processes and procedures
  • Research and develop technical solutions to improving the recruitment process
  • Research and prepare recruitment training / support materials for hiring managers (e.g. interviewing best practices).
  • Contribute ideas and support improvements to onboarding planning of new staff
Support Human Resources Coordinator, as needed:
  • Prepare new hire offer letters
  • Coordinate the onboarding process and ensuring new hire documentation is completed, tracked, saved and submitted in a timely manner
  • Organizes and maintains the centralized and confidential electronic employee files system.
  • Onboard new employees
  • Offboard existing employees
Who we need
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience supporting high volume recruitment / multiple positions at once
  • Experience working in applicant tracking systems (JazzHR)
  • Experience working with LinkedIn Recruiter
Education
  • Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR) - asset
  • Post-secondary education in human resources
Skills
  • Organized self-starter
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and a high level of accountability
  • Able to balance competing priorities, managing multiple stakeholder needs and timelines
  • Excellent communication skills
