Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Hours of work: 10-12 hours per week

Internal applications for this position within the UFCW bargaining unit must be received within 7 days of being posted to have seniority considered in the selection process.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise patients and assist with fitness floor supervision to ensure safety and accident prevention
  • Ensure rules and boundaries are followed by patients
  • Address inappropriate or unsafe behaviours with patients and report any concerns to clinical team and management
  • Consult with patients regarding their fitness goals and instruct them on how to properly and safely use the equipment
  • Support all patient / staff programs and encourage the use of other recreation facilities (e.g. tennis courts gymnasium and grounds)
  • Conduct tours of the fitness centre and promote programs and services available
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries
  • Sign-out recreation equipment and keep inventory of items available for patient use
  • Record patient and staff sign-in statistics
  • Make appointments for Integrated Health Clinic (massage physiotherapy osteopathy)
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Recreation Leadership, Recreation Therapy, Kinesiology, Health Studies or related field
  • Experience working with mental health and addictions populations
  • Must have valid CPR Certification
  • Personal Training / Group Fitness training an asset
  • Ability to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for patients
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Mature with a genuine interest in a variety of individuals and commitment to providing quality service to diverse populations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Evidence of good work and attendance record
  • Commitment to working within Homewood Health and Safety Standards
