Job Description
The Project Manager's overall responsibilities will be to lead multiple ICI construction projects within the Niagara Region and surrounding area from estimating handoff to project closeout. Projects will be completed according to strict deadlines and within budget.
Safety
- Ensure site hazard analysis is completed prior to job start up.
- Evaluate safety items when on jobsites and address/document concerns.
- Perform formal site inspections once per month and address concerns in an immediate manner.
- Submit inspection forms to the Operations Support Specialist in an immediate manner for review.
- Participate in safety training as required and champion company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure any unique safety measures being taken onsite are communicated in advance to the Operations Support Specialist.
Quotations
- Request quotations from subcontractors as required.
- Submit quotations in a timely manner and consult with other project managers as required.
- Ensure submitted quotations are followed up in a timely manner.
Procurement of materials and subcontractors
- Nurture existing relationships with subcontractors and vendors and communicate our company expectation so far as quality, safety, billing, communications.
- Seek out new vendors and subcontractors who are able to meet/exceed company expectations and review these vendors with the VP of Construction.
- Project related communications with subcontractors on an ongoing basis.
- Consider both price and quality of product/service when issuing purchase orders.
- Advise the VP of Construction of any concerns relative to Subcontractors (i.e. safety, performance, etc.)
Contract Fulfillment
- Ensure proper contracts are in place at the front-end of a project; ensure contracts are reviewed provided to the VP of Construction for review prior to submission.
- Communicate any concerns relative to field crew capacity and skill set concerns to the VP of Construction and VP of People and Culture in a timely manner.
- Ensure General Foremen have a Project Information Sheet at the start of each project.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Provide on-the-job technical training and feedback to General Foremen as required.
- Respond to needs of General Foremen in a timely basis.
- Communicate to General Foremen/Lead Hands where they are to report at the start of their next shift.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential concerns, and devise contingency in consultation with General Foremen.
- Communicate any project related concerns to the VP of Construction in a timely basis.
- Project-related communications with sub-contractors.
- Project-related communications with suppliers.
- Work with the administrative team to ensure all required invoicing, approvals, job reports, etc. are completed in an ongoing and timely manner for the client.
- Attain the milestones & financial goals of the project.
- Hold Supervisors accountable for their actions as it relates to project performance, overall expectations of a Foremen, Lead Hand, etc.
Client Relations & Retention
- Communicate with current and past clients on an ongoing basis; educating them on the portfolio of services we are able to provide.
- Ensure ongoing communication with clients throughout a project; seek project related feedback.
- Address any client related concerns in a timely basis.
- Ensure the appropriate level of quality is maintained.
- Meet sales growth targets forecasted annually by account.
Employee Management and Development
- Clearly communicate expectations to team members.
- Hold team members accountable meeting outlined expectations and for abiding by standard operating procedures.
- Communicate ideas for improvement to the appropriate individuals.
- Coach team members on continuous improvement.
