Venor is partnering with Apex Industries in their search for a Project Manager to join their Architectural Hardware Group in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Apex Industries Inc. is a well-established Canadian corporation, headquartered in Moncton, New Brunswick. For over 50 years, Apex has grown into a diversified company with multiple business units focused on metal manufacturing, product development, and automation. Their work spans across various industries, including aerospace, heavy machining, and fabrication, and provides opening solutions for the construction industry.

The Role

As Project Manager for the Architectural Hardware Group, you’ll lead the full lifecycle of awarded contracts — from initial planning through to final delivery. You’ll oversee complex hardware installation projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and on-time delivery within budget.

In this pivotal role, you’ll apply your deep knowledge of architectural hardware to drive project success. Acting as the primary point of contact, you’ll collaborate closely with architects, contractors, engineers, and installers to coordinate efforts, resolve challenges, and deliver exceptional results. This is your opportunity to take ownership of meaningful projects and make a lasting impact in a highly respected, fast-paced commercial environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Project Leadership: Manage projects from start to finish, from preparing competitive bids and winning contracts to overseeing every detail until completion.
  • Technical Expertise: Use your knowledge of commercial construction, architectural hardware, steel doors, and frames to respond to customer inquiries and prepare detailed project estimates.
  • Budget Management: Evaluate project costs, including materials, labor, and geographic factors, to ensure accurate and competitive pricing. You’ll also work with subcontractors and suppliers to resolve pricing issues and maintain project budgets.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets. You’ll also identify potential risks and create strategies to mitigate them.
  • Blueprint Analysis: Read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications for architectural hardware projects, ensuring full compliance with all building codes and safety standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a central point of contact for team members, clients, and site superintendents. You’ll coordinate, expedite, and distribute critical project information and updates, with a strong focus on scheduling and ensuring a smooth workflow.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Experience: Training or education in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or relevant industry experience.
  • Project Management: 5+ years of project management experience in the architectural hardware or commercial construction industry is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in architectural hardware products, building codes, and installation techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of life safety systems, fire codes, access control systems, doors, frames, and custom architectural fittings is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Certifications (Assets): AHC, CDC, EHC, or AOC DHI Designations are considered a strong asset. Experience in Electronic Access Control, CCTV, and/or Intrusion is also an asset.
  • Essential Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. You must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

If you’re looking to take the next step in your career with a company that values expertise, collaboration, and quality, this is your opportunity. You’ll join a knowledgeable team where your contributions will be recognized, and your leadership will directly influence project success.

We’re committed to supporting professional growth and providing a dynamic, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Apply today and bring your skills to a company where you can build lasting impact. Experienced carpenters with a commercial background and project coordinators from the door and frame industry are also encouraged to apply.
