Part of SFU Facilities' Campus Planning and Development unit, Capital Project Services division is responsible for overseeing the delivery of approximately 100-150 building alternation projects annually with approximate project values from $50K up to $3M. Projects include both those to support learning and teaching, research, and other activities critical to the function of the University, as well as renewals of and improvements to common areas, learning spaces, and infrastructure. The team, comprising project managers with backgrounds in architecture, interior design, and project management, provides advice and project management services to both internal (Facilities Services) and external (Faculties and their staff, as well as other administrative units) groups.
About The Role
The Project Coordinator supports SFU’s Facilities Services team in delivering campus renewal and renovation projects on the Burnaby campus. This role offers hands-on experience in project coordination and construction administration, both in the office and in the field.
Qualifications
Diploma in Project Management or Trades Certification and three years of related experience in project management, space design, and renovation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Working knowledge of construction and project coordination principles.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to learn about building codes, safety regulations, and university procedures.
- Comfort working with budgets, spreadsheets, and administrative project tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
