Company Description

Are you a detail-driven accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment? As a Project Accountant, you’ll be a trusted financial partner on high-impact construction projects, supporting cost-plus, IPD, and Construction Management work from start-up through close-out.

You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Directors, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate billings, strong financial controls, and compliance - while helping projects run smoothly and profitably.

This position may be based in any Chandos office (Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Kelowna, Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa)

Job Description
What You’ll Do
  • Manage project billings, contract reviews, and billing setup to capture all recoverable costs
  • Prepare and review monthly billings with Project Managers and respond to client inquiries
  • Perform billing audits, job cost adjustments, and variance analysis
  • Monitor receivables, lien timelines, prompt payment requirements, and pay-when-paid terms
  • Oversee subcontractor invoicing, payment controls, and compliance documentation
  • Partner with Accounts Payable on cost processing, accruals, and payment files
  • Support forecasting, reporting, and project status reviews
  • Act as a subject matter expert on complex IPD and CM projects and mentor team members

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and being deeply embedded in the success of construction projects.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Diploma in Accounting
  • 4 year university degree in Business/Finance in progress or completed is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable
  • Experience in the construction industry is an asset
  • Computer literate, with effective working skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Preferred qualifications
  • Able to adapt to and to learn software (i.e. Viewpoint).
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team and/or independently.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Results-focused.
  • Able to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Good attention to detail in all areas of work.
