Job summary

A leading food manufacturing company in Canada is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the activities of employees in the manufacturing process. Responsibilities include ensuring team efficiency, maintaining health and safety standards, and monitoring quality. Candidates should have at least 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment, and be able to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a unionized and/or food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts - typically 2 weeks days and 2 weeks afternoons.

Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in various areas of the manufacturing process. You will:

Responsibilities
  • Ensure your team is motivated, capable, well trained and efficient to ensure targets and high standards are achieved
  • Maintain accurate record keeping related to staff, monitoring of health and safety through PPE checks, hazard awareness and monitoring best practice
  • Monitor quality and efficiency standards, rectifying issues where possible and notifying Line Manager of any issues that need escalating
  • Monitor stock levels, material supply and material utilization using SAP system, if required
  • Inspecting all areas of work on a daily basis identifying any areas requiring specific attention and act accordingly
  • Lead the team by example, making sure all the team follows correct PPE and food safety standards at all times
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in a unionized and/or food manufacturing environment would be considered an asset
  • Experience supervising a team of up to 40 employees
  • Experience working with SAP or similar systems
  • Strong knowledge on KPI’s, Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, HACCP, Waste Rate and Run Rate
  • Sound knowledge in OH&S systems
  • Excellent leadership, change management, organization and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts - typically 2 weeks days and 2 weeks afternoons
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and the leadership team
