Our client, Ten Plus Architectural Products Ltd., is looking to hire a Production and Shipping Supervisor.

The Production and Shipping Supervisor is a detail oriented, well organized and proactive individual. With the Production Manager, Assembly Supervisor and Production Coordinator, they form the Production Team. Among other things, this position is responsible for organizing and supervising shop employees, ensuring proper and efficient use of materials in order to successfully execute and complete all projects on schedule and on budget. The person in this position shall also actively participate in the quality control function by inspecting and verifying ongoing fabrication to ensure that the product is being fabricated and assembled per the fabrication layout documents and to the maximum level of quality. All deficiencies are to be resolved and made good and approved by the Production Manager or other member of the Management before any work leaves the shop. This demands constant and open communication with shop employees and other members of the Project Team.

The Production Supervisor reports to the Production Manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • The ability to lead and direct people effectively
  • Experience in all shipping and receiving duties
  • Technical aptitude and knowledge of metal fabrication methods and practices.
  • Familiarity with basic operation of shop equipment: break press; shear; chop saw; compressor; welding equipment and small tools for preventative maintenance program.
  • Operate forklift or obtain license
  • Good numeracy and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivation and strong work ethic
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment
  • The ability to handle responsibility and the pressure of meeting deadlines
  • Great interpersonal and the ability to lead and direct people effectively.
  • Overtime may be required to meet specific deadlines
  • Strong PC skills ( MS office, etc )

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In conjunction with the Production Manager, Assembly Supervisor and Project Coordinator, develop production schedules.
  • Meet with team members, as required, to ensure you have a complete understanding of all that is required on the project including any special conditions and details prior to commencing the fabrication process.
  • Ensure the shop is maintained clean, safe and all work is conducted in accordance with good health and safety practices and as further outlined in the health and safety manual.
  • Plan and direct workflow and assembly methods.
  • Coordinate and assist as required to build crating for materials.
  • Coordinate all shipping and receiving responsibilities
  • Communicate with deliveries and pick ups to customers and job sites.
  • Regularly inspect all fabrication processes to identify potential problems, errors and deviations from the layouts and the highest level of quality and workmanship.
  • Report problems, errors and deviations from the expected level of quality and workmanship to the Production Coordinator and Production Manager as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot quality errors, defects and make recommendations to the Production Manager and Management as to changes necessary to eliminate such errors and defects.
  • Organize and implement a shop mentoring program for new and or inexperienced employees.
  • Oversee and monitor the shop preventative maintenance program.
  • Oversee and monitor all personnel issues to including performance, employee relation and disciplinary issues per company policies and as management may direct.
  • Ensure all Layouts and Quality Control documents are maintained and filed.
  • Perform other miscellaneous job related duties as assigned
