A leading engineering firm is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of innovative mechanical solutions for advanced space missions. The role involves creating high-quality designs, ensuring they meet specifications while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates are experienced in mechanical engineering, CAD software, and have a passion for aerospace challenges.
Position Available: Principal Mechanical Engineer
Location: Essex (4 days onsite per week)
Experience needed: Proven expertise in mechanical design and development, ideally within the space, aerospace or defence, industry, with advanced CAD skills and strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and environmental engineering challenges. Experience using PTC Creo and Windchill would be extremely beneficial.
We're seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of bespoke mechanical solutions for cutting-edge space missions. You'll take projects from concept through to detailed manufacturing drawings, creating robust, high-quality designs for imaging sensors, test cameras, front-end electronics, and associated assembly tools, jigs, and transport packaging.
Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, you'll ensure each solution meets demanding specifications for shock, vibration, and heat transfer, while balancing cost, lead times, and manufacturability. Your work will play a key role in enabling the next of space exploration and scientific discovery.
This role is ideal for experienced engineers from space, aerospace, or advanced engineering sectors who are passionate about solving complex technical challenges.
