Overview

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Air Quality and Particle Technology group (Prof. Dr. J. Wang). The successful candidate will be hosted by the Institute of Environmental Engineering, ETH Zürich. Position starting from Dec 2025 or upon agreement.

Project background

The research is related to application of biotechnology for safeguarding environment and health. Genetic, cell and tissue technologies have profound applications and potential in protection of environment and high health standards. Our group is engaged in development of various sensors targeting biological pollutants, measurement of disease-related biomarkers, and study of organ-on-a-chip. We develop microfluid, optical and electrochemical methods in combination with microorganisms and cells to provide solutions for environmental and health challenges.

Job Description
  • To provide support on culturing cells, bacteria and viruses.
  • To develop rapid measurement methods for disease-related biomarkers.
  • To develop organ-on-a-chip to evaluate health impact of environmental pollutants.
  • To perform data analysis and result communication.
Profile
  • A doctoral degree in biotechnology, bioengineering, microbiology, or related fields with excellent academic records.
  • A strong research background and solid independent research ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
