Qualifications

What You’ll Do

As the Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe manufacturing of our world class bulk emulsion product out of our Corner Brook site and will be required to follow and lead all safe management systems that apply to the position. In addition to being a plant operator you should be willing to train on various types of Dyno Nobel Bulk trucks and specialty equipment to prepare and deliver explosive products to customer in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. Other duties include:

  • Support Zero Harm culture in Health, Safety & Environment
  • On time Completion of documentation and reports
  • Operate Emulsion Plant to prepare and deliver quality products to customer.
  • Operate and perform maintenance on plant facility within Dyno Nobel Health and Safety Management System procedures and practices.
  • Support emulsion and prill handling using site shunt truck and/or Mobile Processing Units (MPU)
  • Calibrate equipment, monitor fuel percentages, check emulsion density, and perform Quality Control analysis on product.
  • Load and unload trucks & Silos, and maintain Site Inventories
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while driving and operating equipment, and while on blast sites to protect personal safety and the safety of others (Zero Harm)
  • Prepare and maintain all records and monthly reports concerning the production and sales of explosive products.
  • Aid and lead other team members.
  • All other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Clean drivers abstract. - Valid Class 1 driver’s License would be considered an asset
  • 2+ years in a mechanical or process position
  • Explosive manufacturing experience would be considered an asset.
  • Stationary engineer certification is an asset.
  • Be able to pass pre-access medical and be able to wear a respirator.
  • Criminal record check required.
  • Operate and perform minor maintenance of heavy motor vehicles and perform gassing operations within Health and Safety Management System procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, and to communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
