Job description

General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada is currently hiring an intermediate Payroll Administrator to join our corporate Payroll team. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, has a strong sense of initiative, and demonstrates effective communication with both stakeholders and colleagues. This position follows a hybrid working model combining home and on-site work.

Responsibilities
  • Produce biweekly payroll (Oracle Time & Labour and ADP Workforce Now).
  • Answer inquiries from employees.
  • Process payroll for union and non‑union employees, both hourly and salaried.
  • Perform labour edits and weekly/bi‑weekly payroll processing.
  • Assist with payroll year‑end filings.
  • Resolve payroll processing issues as needed.
  • Support ad‑hoc reporting.
  • Administer Oracle Time & Labour and ADP Workforce Now systems.
  • Process new hires and terminations, including pay bank information, tax credits, vacation pay, severance, Records of Employment, and other updates.
  • Assist with Record of Employment submissions.
  • Support employee record adjustments, corrections, incentives, and bonus processing.
  • Administer and distribute reports as instructed.
  • Communicate with employees and managers regarding timesheet submissions and approvals.
  • Deliver instruction and training to employees on payroll systems, including timesheet entry and online pay statement access.
  • Collect and enter data into spreadsheets and the payroll system.
  • Build and run custom reports.
  • Prepare journal vouchers for payroll labour and accruals (both system and manual).
  • Assist with reconciliation of payroll‑related general ledger accounts.
  • Process payments to internal and external organizations (e.g., WSIB family support).
  • Support provincial workers’ compensation payments and returns.
  • Maintain payroll records and storage for auditing purposes.
  • Assist with T4/T4A processing.
  • Conduct database queries and generate reports.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, including the Income Tax Act and Employment Standards Act.
Qualifications
  • 2 years payroll experience (Oracle environment is an asset).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills for payroll inquiries.
  • Familiarity with T4 processing and other government forms.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and accounting for payroll transactions.
  • Quick learner of new systems.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and decision‑making skills.
  • Payroll certification and/or membership in the National Payroll Institute is desired.
Education
  • College degree in Business Administration or related field (or equivalent).
  • PCP certification with the National Payroll Institute is desired.
Security and Eligibility

General Dynamics Mission Systems‑Canada must be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program, and all workforce members must be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements to gain access to technical data or information subject to international regulations. Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in Canada.
