Job description

The Parts Technician is responsible forordering, warehousing, inventory control and the saleof parts. Their duties also include identifying/searching for parts and equipment, shipping and receiving, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies
  • Telephone sales support
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other areas
  • Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for internal usage
  • Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using a manual or computerized inventory system
  • Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts and supplies
  • Sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery and equipment in a retail setting
  • Post receipts, stock adjustments, request for credits and PR’s into computer
  • Advise retail customers or internal users on appropriateness of parts, supplies or materials requested
  • Fill customer orders from stock. Prepare sales slips or sales contracts
  • Keep track of backorders and follow up with vendors and customers
  • Endeavor to increase parts sales and customer satisfaction through suggestive selling, use of coupon discounts and monthly flyer specials
  • Ensure that product and service quality exceeds expectations. Aids in the merchandising of parts
  • Must participate in all training programs made available through Peterbilt or outside vendors
  • Assist Parts Manager as needed
  • Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years heavy duty parts department experience
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree
  • Red Seal parts certification is an asset
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities
  • Effective problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to promote service sales and expand customer base
  • Solid understanding of thetruck industry

Compensation Rate

  • $24.77- $45.04per hour
  • Pay rate will be determined based on previous experience, relevant certifications and skill level
