This position is responsible for daily maintenance functions of Parkland, associated City owned property, and the cleaning of related Parks Facilities.

- Hours: Normal Working Hours 40 hours per week, possible evenings and weekends, from September 2025 to June 2026
- Other: General office environment. Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.
Job Description
- Assist in planting and maintenance of shrubs and flower beds
- Perform parks grass cutting and maintenance, including litter collection and waste container servicing
- Maintain washroom, park furniture, shelter facilities and all other buildings located on city park locations
- Collect fees (including trailer sites, boat docking and launch locations, etc.) and issue receipts
- Perform tree maintenance and planting
- Perform maintenance of sportsfields (including user group preparation)
- Operate machinery and equipment related to grounds maintenance functions
- Assist in playground equipment maintenance and inspections
- Patrol and monitor parks for vandalism and secure public facilities nightly
- Perform winter snow and ice control functions as required
- Assist with recreation trail inspection and maintenance functions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/Education Required
- Secondary School diploma with additional education related to facility maintenance
- Experience in grounds maintenance with emphasis on horticulture, landscape construction, sportsfield and parks maintenance
- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace Health and Safety and WHMIS
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand tools, various motorized equipment, combined with a working knowledge of equipment preventative maintenance
- Demonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretion
- Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public, council and all levels of staff
- Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
- Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently or as an effective member of a team
- Good analytical and problem solving skills related to area of expertise
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software
- Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check
