Job Description
  • Operating an ambulance or other emergency vehicles.
  • Responding to calls for help and radio transmissions.
  • Assessing patients and making preliminary diagnoses on the scene.
  • Providing emergency medical care, including medication administration, pain relief, intravenous infusions, and wound/injury dressing.
  • When necessary, specialized equipment such as ventilators and defibrillators are used.
  • Patients are transported to the emergency departments of healthcare facilities such as hospitals.
  • Patients are monitored and cared for while in transit.
  • Communicating with hospital personnel to provide patient information such as medical condition and treatment plan.
  • Accurately writing and submitting incident and patient reports.
  • Cleaning and maintaining medical equipment in the ambulance/emergency vehicle.
Requirements
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in paramedical science is required.
  • NREMT certification is required, as is registration with the relevant Health Professions Council.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and medications used onsite.
  • Working knowledge of medical equipment and devices.
  • Capable of working erratic hours, including weekends and national holidays.
  • Excellent fitness, stamina, vision, and physical agility.
