Urban Academy is a rapidly growing independent school in New Westminster. Our licensed Out Of School Care (OOSC) program offers reliable care for students from JK to 12 years old when school is not in session, focusing on social skills development, cooperation, participation, and fun. OOSC creates a safe, welcoming, respectful experience and follows UA policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations.

The Out of School Care Supervision Aide position for the 2025-2026 school year involves supervising students in the afternoon, from 2:45 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday and on days when the school is not in session.

Responsibilities
  • Follow and uphold the BC Child Care Licensing Rules
  • Ensure a safe and caring environment for students attending the Out of School Care program
  • Plan, supervise and conduct activities, indoors and outdoors, for school-aged children in the program
  • Provide care during non-instructional Professional Development days when school is not in session
  • Adhere to attendance and safety procedures as per school guidelines
  • Address and resolve student and/or parent concerns
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents
  • Record accidents and incidents and report in a timely manner to the ECE manager and Junior School Principal
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid ECE certification (preferred but not required)
  • Current first aid training certificate
  • Vaccination and other records as required by child care licensing
  • Responsible Adult certification (not required if other certifications such as ECE or education assistant are current)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collegiality and punctuality
  • Experience working with school-aged children
  • Experience supporting a range of learning and behavioural needs in an inclusive school setting is an asset
  • Understanding of children’s social and emotional needs from a trauma-informed lens
Compensation

Hourly compensation range: $21.65 – $24.65 based on experience.
