RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage planned and emergent work within their assigned job scope.
  • Support the needs of internal & external stakeholders.
  • Originate routine or low‑complexity deliverables.
  • Review technical products and deliverables developed by external stakeholders.
  • Author processes & procedures documenting how recurring engineering support and deliverables in their assigned discipline are created.
  • Identify and manage mitigation plans for risks associated with their engineering discipline and make risk‑based technical decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement within their engineering discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent, Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically 4‑10 years) in ship design or construction or relevant complex industrial and manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and genuine interest of naval / modern ship design and construction methods; standards/regulations applicable to role (LR, TC, IMO, ASME, IEEE, ASTM).
  • Understanding of scheduling, ability to adhere to strict deadlines, manage & develop schedules.
  • Knowledge of ship‑specific discipline applicable (hull structure, ship arrangements, ship piping systems, propulsion, HVAC, electrical, mechanical) considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, navigate within a 3D model and/or simulation of the ship, develop & markup drawings, develop presentations and reports, develop technical specifications, perform technical investigations, and develop statement of work for subcontractors.
  • Confidently engage in technical information sharing in cross‑functional problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to make risk‑based technical decisions.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence at one of our four locations.
