POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIMEReporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Operations Manager will oversee multiple departments at The Forks, leading teams in day-to-day operations to ensure the site is clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. - Front-line teams through hands-on training and relationship building, ensuring team members are engaged and understand how they fit into the bigger picture, and supporting with change management as the organization evolves.
- On-site coordination and troubleshooting to ensure the site runs smoothly and safely.
- A collaborative approach to team development through inclusive training and performance coaching, including lived experience training and Two-Eyed Seeing principles.
- Implementation of tools, technologies, and procedures to support operational efficiency and innovation.
- Relationship-building with internal teams, community partners, tenants, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Contributing to The Forks Truth and Reconciliation Strategy, ensuring Indigenous cultural sensitivity training is implemented across departments.
- Budgeting and resource planning for operational needs, using a data-driven approach.
The Operations Manager is someone who:- Has at least 5 years of experience managing operational teams.
- Experience in a public space, tourism, or community-focused environment is an asset.
- Is a strong communicator who works collaboratively and inclusively with diverse groups, both internally and externally, ensuring others feel heard and adjusting tone and delivery as needed.
- Leads with empathy, accountability, and integrity, and isn’t afraid to jump in and work alongside the team to ensure alignment on vision and goals.
- Can stay calm and professional when dealing with conflicts or shifting priorities.
- Has a deep understanding of how daily operations impact the visitor experience.
- Brings knowledge of or connection to community safety initiatives, particularly those supporting Indigenous communities.
- Has strong organizational skills and can juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a complex organization with a small team.
- Is highly self-aware of strengths and weaknesses and is not afraid to ask for support when needed.
