Job summary

A non-profit housing organization in Creston is seeking an Operations Manager to manage rental properties. Job description

Creston Non-Profit Housing Collective (CNPHC) operates non-profit housing properties in Creston owned by the three societies:

  • Creston Valley Community Housing Society,
  • Creston Trinity Housing Society and
  • Kootenay Region Association for Community Living.

We provide affordable housing to vulnerable populations including families, seniors and people with disabilities.

The goal of CNPHC is to professionalize and streamline operations, reduce reliance on volunteers and ensure the ongoing viability of the non-profit organizations that form the Collective.

CNPHC is also looking to free up time and talent so that their volunteers can focus on creating housing for the Creston Valley.

Creston is located in a beautiful farming valley in south-eastern BC. We boast a mild climate, ample recreational opportunities and a friendly, small-town atmosphere.

Who You Are

You are highly organized, have attention to detail, work well on your own but also can interact positively with people of different ages, abilities and skills. You excel at communication, at customer service and at conflict resolution, always with a trauma informed approach.

Experience
  • Working as a board member or staff in a non-profit organization
  • Working with or coordinating construction and maintenance trades
  • Applying for grants

Combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Duties

Based in Creston, this position works closely with the CNPHC. The Operations Management Role controls all aspects related to rental management, including but not limited to the following duties: arranging for cleaning and repairs where required, addressing emergency issues and mitigating damages, dealing with tenant conflicts including arbitration when required, qualifying tenants, showing rental units, signing documents, detailed walk throughs and regular inspections.

The Operations Manager will also coordinate all building maintenance and manage the capital plans and building condition assessments.

The Operations manager will attend the various member societies’ meetings to report on activities. In addition, the Operations Manager will coordinate and chair monthly CNPHC meetings. Attendance at other meetings related to housing and housing services in the Creston Valley will be as required.
