Job description

Position

Operations Labourer - Full-time

Job #0617 - $28.81 per hour.

The workload for this position is eight (8) hours per day, being forty (40) hours per week, and may include shift work, twelve (12) months of the year.

Under the supervision of the Zone Coordinator – Grounds, Zone Coordinator - Structural, Zone Coordinator – Mechanical, Zone Coordinator – Electrical and the Senior Warehouser, this position will assist in the maintenance and improvements of School District facilities, equipment, systems, and sites. This position may be required to start work at various School District locations.

Requirements
  • Completed Grade 12.
  • Two (2) years' combined experience in maintenance and landscape work including:
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing power tools, hand tools, and small powered landscaping equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of lawn mowers, tractors, sweepers, and small dump trucks.
  • Labourer knowledge and experience supporting trades people.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge and experience with B.C. construction and maintenance safety requirements including WCB Regulation relating to the trades industry.
  • A minimum Valid Class 5 with Airbrake Endorsement.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.

  • In good physical condition and health to perform the required duties of this position in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to work alone and within a team environment.
  • An initiative-taker.
Applicants will be expected to
  • Maintain good interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft applications such as: Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Maintain a current forklift certification (where required by management).
  • Complete the required Health and Safety training
Assets
  • Education in recognized trade school.
  • First Aid Level 1 or 2 certificate.
