The Kamloops Seniors Health & Wellness Centre provides specialized short-term care (four to eight weeks) for seniors referred by their family doctor, nurse practitioner, or specialist. The interprofessional team may include geriatricians, family physicians, mental health clinicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, rehabilitation assistants, speech and language pathologists, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, and respiratory therapists. Patient partners have helped inform staff orientation at this centre to better understand the needs and experiences of older adults. This is a clinic worksite with occasional home visits. Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
An Occupational Therapist plays a crucial part in providing assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education to patients and/or their caregivers. Operating within a client-centered approach and as an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you make a substantial contribution to promote functional independence and enable patients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. You will provide work direction to the Rehabilitation Assistants working with the rehabilitation team in regard to transfer of function.
