About the Job
- Job Title: Night Auditor (Full time)
- Reports To: Front Office Manager
- Department: Front Office
- Availability: Full-time
Responsibilities include check-in and checkout of hotel guests, answering the telephone, providing information about hotel services and tourism information about the city, exchanging foreign currency, responding to and resolving guest complaints, and ensuring the accuracy of all accounting audit reports.
Starting Wage for the position will be CA$20.45
Qualifications
- Relevant accounting experience or equivalent experience gained through a minimum of two (2) years working in a hotel Front Desk role or a related industry.
- Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, driven to provide outstanding guest service.
- Post secondary degree in Accounting or Tourism.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management.
- Excellent organizational, computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Very strong oral and written communication skills.
Daily Tasks
- Providing all guests with friendly and professional services in a timely manner.
- Ensuring cash float is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Reading, understanding and abiding by the Associate Handbook, hotel policies and departmental procedures.
- Maintaining the work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Assisting the Security department by reporting any unusual activities or individuals.
- Ensuring the Night Audit report and any additional reports needed for miscellaneous departments are completed accurately.
- Ensuring all statistical forms are accurately completed.
- Responsible for balancing all the food and beverage outlets for that day. Also responsible for balancing all accounting work incurred by the front desk for the day.
- Assisting the front office with special requests, pre-registering guests, VIPs and other requirements.
- Actively participating in the monthly departmental meetings and utilizing this time to liaise with the daytime management and provide suggestions/solutions for any problems that may exist.
- Efficiently handling all cash and charge transactions for guests and city ledger accounts.
- Accountable for balanced house bank floats at all times.
- Ensuring a smooth check-in, check-out, phone answering and reservation taking for guests while on duty.
- Maintaining guest security when issuing room keys after proper identification is established.
- Completing a total audit and cash drop for transactions performed during shift.
- Following up on all guest concerns; take corrective action when necessary to prevent similar occurrences.
- Be able to complete room blocking, wake up calls, baggage check in/pout and be able to reconcile master group accounts.
- Understanding different customers and their varied needs and expectations (corporate, leisure, FIT, convention, tour or airline).
- Understanding room availability inventory and what the rate programs or up selling strategies of the hotel are.
- Knowledge of hotel facilities, hours of operations and local attractions.
- Knowledge of companywide marketing programs and incentives.
- Performing other tasks as assigned by Management.
