Site: Credit Valley Hospital (primarily- available to work at all sites)

Hours of Work/Shift: Available to work all shifts (8 hour shifts) including Weekends plus calls

Qualifications:

An integral member of the Diagnostic Imaging department, MRI technologist responsibilities include: performing MRI exams as outlined in the MRI procedure manual; operating, troubleshooting and ensuring that medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner; completing all clerical aspects of exam completion; training of students and new technologists; continuing education as required by associations and needs of department; all patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care; observing and understanding hospital visions and values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, customer-focus and innovation while maintaining patient confidentiality; performing cross-functional responsibilities as assigned, or requested; performing other duties related to the job classification, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures as outlined in MRI procedure Manual;
  • Utilizes technical/medical judgement/knowledge to evaluate image quality, and adjusts accordingly;
  • Ensures proper screening procedure for patient and anyone else entering magnet room;
  • Assess the patient’s condition prior to, during, and after procedures; maintains awareness of procedural complications and reactions during and after procedures; recognizes the conditions requiring immediate attention and initiates appropriate response; documents procedures to ensure precise and accurate procedural records are maintained;
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of MRI Certification Exam required;
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO) required;
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) asset;
  • Experience with Siemens MRI considered an asset.
