is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

Overview

We are seeking a Mine Closure and Permitting Consultant. The successful candidate will lead multi-disciplinary mine closure projects for North American and international clients and have strong project management skills. The majority of the work will involve consulting related to mine permitting and closure, with the ability to pursue a technical specialty in a mine closure related field. The successful candidate would be based in one of SRK’s Canadian offices, and work on projects in Canada and abroad as part of a larger team of engineers and scientists in SRK’s Canadian Geoenvironmental team.

Responsibilities
  • Consult on projects for Canadian and international clients
  • Complete assignments primarily related to the mining industry, specifically: mine permitting
  • Collaborative development of mine closure plans
  • Project management of technical deliverables, budgets and schedules
  • Preparation of proposals and cost estimations
  • Preparation of environmental audits and due diligence reports
  • Closure cost estimation
  • Other duties as required

Essential Requirements :

  • An undergraduate degree in the physical sciences (e.g. geology or environmental science) or engineering (e.g. environmental or geological)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the mining industry, some operations experience is preferred
  • Mine closure and reclamation experience
  • Knowledge of environmental and mining regulations
  • Strong inter-personal communication and writing skills
  • Ability and desire to collaborate with other technical specialists in mining, including geochemistry, geotechnics, groundwater, and environmental disciplines, in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships

This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects both nationally and overseas; international travel may form a significant part of the role.
