Reporting to the System Segment Manager, the MEP Package Lead will be responsible for the timely execution of the MEP scope, ensuring that the work is completed within budget and is fully compliant with Contract, Quality and Safety requirements. The role manages all MEP-related activities for the project and their interfaces through the project steps from design to handover. This includes coordination of design with the construction requirements, procurement of the package, and construction work for the discipline, as well as follow-up of post construction activities until handover of the work package(s) related to the discipline.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure Construction is in full compliance with the Project Agreement, including matters relating to quality, safety, environment, and life cycle performance, such as Project’s ECO Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and all applicable legislation.
  • Manage the execution of the work package including detailed design, construction, T&C, operation and the handover process.
  • Prepare construction planning for the MEP works including all equipment, material, siteteams and supervision.
  • Manage the construction work through field engineer(s).
  • Manage the overall budget for the project’s MEP work program including procurement, materials, equipment, labour, etc.
  • Provide the progress data needed to perform a timely monthly invoicing to the City.
  • Coordinate with the project’s scheduling team and the managers of interfacing scopes toensure the overall MEP program is correctly included in the overall project schedule.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of detailed working schedules by the MEPconstruction team.
  • Ensure conformance of MEP activities with the contract and quality requirements.
  • Follow-up progress and report on the Key Performance Indicators.
  • Manage risks and opportunities linked to the MEP scope.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in engineering, or related field with a preference for electrical, civil or mechanical engineering. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience with evidence of leadership on at least 2 large projects for MEP work design and construction.
  • Technical and operational knowledge of MEP systems.
  • Experience in organizing site construction forces involving LRT or Tramway MEP.
  • Experienced in the specification of MEP components and interface with suppliers.
  • Project management experience including development of construction plans, schedules andinterface on a large multidiscipline team.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid Class 5 license; clean abstract preferred.
  • Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions.
