The City of Mississauga is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable and proactive Mental Health Consultant to join an amazing and supportive in-house Employee Health Services team. This team includes expertise from an Occupational Medical Physician and Psychiatrist, Occupational Health Consultants, Claims Management Specialists and support staff. The Employee Health Services team provides guidance to support and ensure the City has a safe, healthy and productive workplace.

Responsibilities
  • Champion the ongoing implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of the City’s Mental Health Strategy supporting employee psychological health, safety and well-being which is a critical component of the City’s Human Resources People Strategy. The strategy aligns with best practices embedded in CSA Standard for Psychological Health and Safety (PHS) in the Workplace.
  • Plan and develop the next phase of the City’s Mental Health Strategy which will span the next 4 years
  • Establish a measurement system to objectively measure progress in creating a mentally healthy and psychologically safe workplace and identify future work-plan priorities.
  • Enhance tools, training and programs related to workplace mental health including those that will help build resiliency and contribute to informal conflict resolution processes.
  • Provide consultation on complex workplace situations, disability claims, stay at work/return to work plans, and accommodations that involve mental illness or mental health challenges.
  • Work closely with the Health and Safety team to embed PHS principles within the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Act as lead liaison for the Employee and Family Assistance Program
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • University degree in Health Promotion, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or other related Social Services programs. Preference will be given to candidates who have a master’s degree and/or are a Registered Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Nurse, or related health professional.
  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible related experience in workplace and employee mental health including coordinating health promotion initiatives
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing related projects, programs and strategies
  • Working Minds and Mental Health First Aid Instructor certifications are considered assets
  • Certification in Project Management is considered an asset
  • Highly developed skills in interpersonal relations, direct service delivery, time management, change management, organizational facilitation and communication skills
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and PHIPPA as they relate to workplace psychological health.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $49.16 - $65.54 (Grade F salary $89,464 to $119,286)
