Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for coding diseases, operations, procedures and other therapies on inpatient and surgical day care episodes using ICD?10 and CCI classification systems; abstracting demographic and clinical data from health records utilizing CIHI guidelines and 3M electronic abstracting system; and monitoring and evaluating the quality of data submitted and to take corrective action when necessary. Other related duties as required.

Job Demands
  • Constantly sits for long periods of time, occasionally required to lift files weighing between 10 - 25 lbs.
  • Fine finger or precision work required; visual concentration is required to ensure accuracy.
  • Work has standard deadlines and quotas for coding and staging.
Job Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a recognized/accredited program in Health Information Management is required.
  • Current and continuing certification as an accredited Health Information Management Professional from the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
