POSITION: Medical Laboratory Technologist

WORK TYPE: Temporary Full Time Until September 30, 2026

LOCATION: WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital, KW Campus)

SHIFT: ROTATION IN A 24/7 LAB AND CROSS TRAINING INTO OTHER CORE LAB AREAS

Position Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform analytical testing of patient samples manually or with automated equipment under limited supervision.
  • Maintain work station and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, documenting results.
  • Understand and follow relevant procedure and policy manuals.
  • Perform quality control procedures, troubleshoot, and report issues according to protocol.
  • Document and report results, maintain proper records.
  • Prepare reagents for testing.
  • Follow safety practices at all times.
  • Prioritize work, respond to urgent demands, and consult with colleagues or supervisors as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, including interpreting test results and explaining limitations.
  • Use Laboratory Information System proficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Position Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology Program.
  • Current registry with CMLTO or pending registration (hire under non-registered status if awaiting exam results).
  • Recent experience in Blood Bank/Core Laboratory preferred.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory work performance.
  • Proficiency in Laboratory Information System and MS Office preferred.
  • Good attendance record.
