Job summary

A health authority in Canada is seeking a Vascular Sonographer to perform vascular ultrasound examinations under the supervision of a radiologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient monitoring, receiving and completing requisitions, and operating ultrasound equipment. Required qualifications include graduation from an approved ultrasound diploma program and certification from Sonography Canada or ARDMS. Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the supervisor, and under the general supervision of a radiologist, the MI Vascular Sonographer performs vascular ultrasound examinations. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating ultrasound equipment, including preparing and presenting patient data to radiologist.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.

Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials as a Vascular Sonographer and one (1) year recent, related experience in a health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.
