Position Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible to develop and implement Asset Maintenance Strategies that ensure the reliable performance of our operating plants, reduce or eliminate production losses due to equipment failures, and to provide technical support and leadership to Celgar Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Maintenance strategies for all Mill production equipment
  • Utilize theReliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) process to determine strategy
  • Optimize Predictive Maintenance (PM) programs in collaboration with the rest of Maintenance and Operations.
  • Utilize the PM data and all upcoming technology while developing Maintenance Strategies.
  • Reduce the number of equipment failures throughout the mill
  • Identify, track, and correct all significant equipment failures
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures
  • Provide direction to allow for solution implementation, asset maintainability, and life cycle management.
  • Manage and develop the Major Maintenance plans for our Equipment
  • Develop long term and annual Major Maintenance plans and budgets
  • Participate in scope definition for annual shutdowns and assess equipment condition during shutdowns.
  • Supervise Contract Resources to ensure compliance to standards when executing your Major Maintenance projects
  • Participate in Capital Planning and Project Management
  • Ensure that capital solutions and reliability issues are properly prioritized and Asset Life Cycle Planning is incorporated into all new Capital Projects
  • Develop clear equipment standards for new Capital Equipment purchases
  • Ensure Maintenance strategies and spare parts issues are resolved and in place for new Capital Equipment.
  • Work with the Area Managers to support and develop the Reliability Team to maximize their cross-functional effectiveness
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators to identify, prioritize, and resolve reliability concerns; monitor and report measured results.
  • Develop Bad Actor lists and use these lists to develop or implement the Planned Maintenance strategy, repairs, or justify capital improvements.
  • Develop and monitor predictive maintenance (PM) compliance and effectiveness; track quality of PM work planning and execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Registered with a Canadian Engineering Association (EGBC, APEGA, PEO, etc.) as a P.Eng. or EIT;
  • Minimum 5-years experience in heavy industry with Pulp and Paper experience preferred;
  • Experience in providing site-wide engineering expertise is preferred. Reliability-based maintenance is an asset;
  • Familiarity with NBIC, API, and ASME codes and standards.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is $91,000.00 - $155,000.00. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
