Qualifications

Our office in Toronto is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer-Lead to join our Toronto team. Must be local to the Toronto area to be considered. This is a hybrid role- days per week in office is mandatory.

This position will be to work on various projects in Rail (High Speed, Metro, LRT, streetcars) in the Toronto office.

Lead Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

• You will work directly with the Senior Management team in Toronto -work independently and with minimal supervision
• Responsible for taking design projects from start to finish and applying a high level of technical, professional engineering and consulting expertise
• Familiar with National, Provincial and Municipal Codes and Standards such as NFPA, OBC, CSA. Ensures the design documents meet established project criteria and applicable standards.
• Experience in Design and hydraulic calculation of Fire protection systems (Sprinkler, standpipe, pre-action and clean agent suppression)
• Participates in client management, business development and proposal preparation activities
• Prepare engineering design including calculations, specification and drawings for the following building systems : HVAC, Plumbing Fire Protection and Fuel Systems
• You will be responsible to manage certain aspects of project financial review and maintaining budget and meeting delivery milestones
• Responsible for reviewing project construction and manage construction engineering correspondence.
• Peer review junior engineers work
• Develop and mentor a high performing team of junior staff

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• 10-12 years of related experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P. Eng.)
• Rail experience is mandatory
• Experience in fire protection and fuel systems is mandatory
• LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are highly desirable qualifications
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) or Trane TRACE software, and Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, outlook) are required
• Proficiency with MEP Revit is highly desirable

• Must have excellent leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem solve in an integrated team environment
