Organizational Overview

Our client is a Nationally and Internationally Accredited Independent Third-Party Testing, Certification and Field Evaluation Body headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. It has an extensive presence throughout Canada, including an advanced testing laboratory in Toronto, and key locations in the USA, Europe, and Asia, with a global network of partner laboratories. The company provides testing and certification services to meet various standards and codes, including European and international safety standards.

They also offer Field Evaluation / Special Inspection Services for products in Canadian and US markets, servicing clients worldwide across industries such as industrial, medical, electrical, and electronics. The organization has enabled manufacturers globally to sell their products in over 50 countries using its recognized certification mark. With a focus on expertise, reputation, and market barriers, they are expanding in the certification sector.

The role is with a successful wholly owned subsidiary of a large European-based global testing, inspection, and certification company.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Reporting to the head of North American operations and the Global Director of E&E, the Managing Director sets the vision, oversees sales and services, and drives growth and operational excellence. They identify market opportunities, remove obstacles, guide a team towards expansion, and ensure operational efficiencies while maintaining core values and profitability. They also uphold the company's reputation through effective communication, collaboration, and customer service.
  • Develops and implements strategic business plans for growth, utilizing data and market analysis, and manages budgets.
  • Oversees daily operations, resource allocation, productivity evaluation, and financial performance.
  • Drives sales, maintains client relations, and fosters new business opportunities.
  • Analyzes situations, makes decisions, and resolves conflicts internally and externally, addressing issues like business losses or unmet targets.
  • Implements systems and processes while preserving the entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Stays informed about external factors affecting the TIC industry and regulatory environment, aligning with customer needs.
  • Motivates staff, communicates effectively, and creates a positive work culture. Coaches and develops managers, manages performance issues.
  • Collaborates with peers to optimize resources and leverage organizational strengths.
  • Builds trusted relationships within the organization and establishes reporting protocols.

Required Qualifications :

The ideal candidate is a senior leader with proven management, business development, communication, and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and achieving outstanding results. They have extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, technical, financial, and operational management, preferably within a TIC organization focused on Electrical and Electronics sectors. Global experience and market expansion skills, especially in the US, are advantageous.
