The Opportunity

Our Product Development organization is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead, inspire, unblock, and optimize the delivery of the Flow Connect team in Vancouver, CA. If you are someone who has managerial experience, great people skills and recent hands-on technical experience to help their team find process issues and remove bottlenecks to make our development efforts more effective, we encourage you to apply.

Our teams focus on creating and extending our product features and the software development toolset that form the core of our Software Lifecycle and DevOps Integrations products.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will

  • Solve technical challenges by deep-diving into the technical details of the challenge along with engineers from the team.
  • Coach an Agile team and own team business & operational delivery goals.
  • Encourage and empower the team to take ownership of the team’s success.
  • Support and enable our continuous refinement of process, structure, and techniques to optimize testing infrastructure, continuous delivery, and progression to SaaS.
  • Create and collaborate on tools that allow us to analyze software development approaches using innovative data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage on-call operations.
  • Mentor, coach, and help each team member to set career direction and grow.
Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a professional with experience in leading engineering team, and designing and implementing scalable software systems. You are a collaborative team player who is calm, optimistic, and creative in solving software delivery challenges.

What You'll Bring

Preferred Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

  • 3+ years of experience leading a software development team.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services and cloud architecture, with emphasis on building scalable, reliable, and secure software and data platforms.
  • Work experience with Java, and its idioms and design patterns.
  • Technical acumen to deep-dive into challenges and lead technical discussions with the team members and enable problem solving.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Led and helped to evolve a collaborative and productive software engineering team that uses AI developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
  • Process and project management skills, such as Agile Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment where you build it, you support it.
  • Experience as an individual technical contributor in their career.
  • Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based solutions.

Other Beneficial Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and modern CI/CD practices for secure, automated software delivery.
  • Proficiency in Test-Driven Development.
  • Containers and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Experience managing team members in remote / distributed teams and projects.
