Overview
Are you passionate about being responsible for the safeguarding of premises, assets, staff and visitors of our IFNA communities? This role requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. The role will report to the Director of Integrated Emergency Services.
Responsibilities
- Oversee security operations within the Nursing Stations in three IFNA communities: Muskrat Dam, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug and Pikangikum.
- Conduct regular security inspections and address identified risks.
- Collaborate with Pikangikum Peacekeepers, and police services to ensure community safety.
- Work alongside Community Leadership to ensure Nursing Station security training and operating procedures are in line with community need.
- Ensure 24/7 staff scheduling.
- Provide leadership and support to the Security Coordinator, Security Officers, and surge staff as needed.
- Lead security coordination during emergency responses and represent IFNA in Emergency Management activities.
- Maintain thorough documentation and reporting, including daily status updates and incident reports.
Position Requirements
- Post-secondary education in emergency services, including Basic and Advanced (Use of Force) Security Guard Training and Emergency First Aid.
- Valid Security Guard License (or ability to obtain within one month of hire).
- Training in Incident Management System (IMS) and Basic Emergency Management (BEM) (100–200 level) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in security management.
- Knowledge of Indigenous emergency services and willingness to cross-train in related fields.
- Strong cross-cultural awareness and excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and professional skills.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational and advocacy abilities.
- Able to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- Ability to travel as needed to IFNA communities via vehicle or small aircraft.
- A good understanding of the culture and the language is a definite asset.
- Familiarity with Indigenous communities and organizations; experience working for an Indigenous organization.
- Valid driver’s license G, clear driving abstract, and access to a vehicle required.
Note: Flexibility is key at IFNA. You may occasionally cover tasks outside your role, ensuring comprehensive support for our organization's mission.
Benefits and Details
- Salary Range: $75,000-85,000 per year
- Schedule: Regular hours from Monday to Friday with weekends, and on-call availability as needed.
- Location: Sioux Lookout, ON (On site)
