Job description

Are you energized by a dynamic role that blends senior finance leadership with hands-on accounting? If you thrive in an environment where your day might shift from high-level financial planning and reporting to team leadership to front-end transactional work, this opportunity could be a great fit for you.

We’re looking for a Manager of Accounting & Finance to join our team at Ing & McKee Insurance, a locally run, mid-sized insurance brokerage with a personal, down-to-earth approach and commitment to exceptional customer service. As a Navacordbroker partner, we offer the best of both worlds: agility and culture of a local business, with the strength, support and resources of a nationwide brokerage and network.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for accounting, finance, and payroll functions, and play a key role in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. As a trusted advisor and member of the leadership team, you’ll help shape our financial strategy and contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy

  • Translate the corporate strategy into formalized financial systems and processes to achieve strategic priorities and outcomes.
  • Strengthen the organization’s budget development and oversight processes.

Leadership

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships throughout the Ing & McKee organization and with Navacord stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, mentor and manage a small administration team that supports the company's financial function.
  • Be a role model of ethics and professionalism, striving for excellence in execution, continuous improvement, and delivering business-ready solutions.

Finance/Accounting

  • Oversight, as well as transactional responsibilities, for all aspects of finance and accounting, including receivables, payables, trust accounts, expenses, payroll, financial reporting and an internal customer financing service.
  • Responsible for the adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, internal finance controls, and government regulations while communicating and updating the impact of the required changes in those regulations.
  • The preparation and/or review of reporting packages, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports regarding production, growth, profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets.
  • Develop and track financial standards and metrics.
  • Project and manage cash flow.
  • Key liaison for financial audit, tax filing and compliance.
  • Lead the annual budget process.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) including pre-M&A assessment and review and post M&A financial integration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or relatively equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Extensive related finance/accounting experience.
  • Leadership experience

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong skills in learning, using and modifying accounting information systems are essential.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook and ability to learn new tech systems and tools quickly.
  • Exemplary work ethic and organizational skills
  • A strategic, forward-thinking leader who can anticipate potential service and operational vulnerabilities within the business and inform or implement effective mitigating actions.
  • A collaborative, team-focused leader with the ability to provide vision, clear direction, coach and mentor staff, fostering a positive, empowered, collaborative and accountable team.
