Job details

Memorial University is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated leader to join our Facilities Management team as the Manager of Electrical Systems. The St. John's campus includes over 80 buildings and approximately 4 million square feet of space, supporting research, teaching, residences, and offices. The campus maintains its own utilities infrastructure, including power supply to various facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems across multiple facilities, including high, medium, and low voltage components and power generation systems (>13 MW capacity).
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs for electrical systems.
  • Manage the electrical workforce, budgets, and projects, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Plan for future electrical system needs aligned with university goals.
  • Provide technical leadership for upgrades and infrastructure modifications.
  • Review project designs for compliance with standards.
  • Manage contracts with external vendors.
  • Participate in team management and strategic planning.
  • Develop and enforce safe work practices according to electrical codes.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Candidate qualifications
  • 5-8 years of experience in facilities management supporting electrical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Salary

$96,244 - $126,638 per year
