Manager of Accounting – Squamish Nation (North Vancouver, Onsite)

Lead the financial stewardship of Squamish Nation as Manager of Accounting, ensuring fiscal integrity that supports our Úxwumixw (community). Your expertise will directly contribute to transparent financial reporting and strategic decision-making, upholding Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values of accountability and intergenerational responsibility.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee all accounting operations including monthly/annual closes, audits ($100M+ budget), and PSAS/IFRS compliance
  • Prepare audited financial statements and strategic reports for Council, funding agencies, and regulatory bodies
  • Lead tax compliance (corporate, GST/PST) and implement new accounting standards (PS 3410 for government transfers)
  • Manage accounts receivable, collections, and financial controls to protect Nation assets
  • Direct year-end audit processes with external auditors and Nation subsidiaries
  • Spearhead financial transformation initiatives including ERP implementation
  • Mentor accounting team (Senior Accountant, Staff Accountants) through training and leadership
  • Present financial insights to senior leadership and Council to guide strategic decisions

  • CPA designation with 7+ years progressive accounting experience
  • Expert knowledge of PSAS, IFRS, and government funding compliance
  • Proven experience leading audits and financial reporting for $50M+ organizations
  • Strong technical skills in ERP systems and financial process automation
  • Experience presenting complex financial data to executive/Council-level audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership in team development and change management

Salary: $ 94,000 - 141,100
