Qualifications

  • Minimum of Grade 12 plus experience in building maintenance such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, or electrical.
  • A valid class 5 NS driver's license with a good driving record; class 4 within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and safe storage of chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the grounds surrounding the building for safety and aesthetics.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and checks.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including repairs to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Manage contractors and service representatives as necessary.

Job description
What you'll do
  • Maintain the grounds surrounding the building, ensuring it is safe and aesthetically pleasing
  • Manage and conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections/checks
  • Assists with moving and storage of supplies and equipment
  • Report on equipment malfunctions
  • Maintain and make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems, etc.
  • Performs other routine maintenance such as painting, drywall repair etc.
  • Contact and follow-up with contractors, technicians, and service representatives utilized by the organization when necessary
  • Available for emergency calls
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Grade 12 plus experience in building maintenance, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing or electrical.
  • Journeyperson Certificate in a construction trade such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbing OR a Building System Technician certificate from an accredited Community College would be considered assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Must possess a valid class 5 NS driver's license and have a good driving record: willing to obtain a class 4 within 6 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated communication and problem solving skills; as well as the ability to take direction, and make informed decisions in an emergency, as well as on a daily basis.
  • The ability and desire to relate courteously and effectively with residents, contractors, and staff
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and safe storage of chemicals
