About you and this role:

Dow currently has an opening for a Maintenance and Engineering Group Leader in Toronto, ON.

The Maintenance Group Leader has accountability to drive maintenance productivity for the assigned area. Serves as the maintenance process and discipline owner and administrative resource leader. Has responsibility for safety, reliability and cost management. Ensures effective work process utilization, enhancement of the process/operating discipline, that the skills necessary to support the work process are defined, and tracks and analyzes work process results. Leads a team of approximately 10 maintenance craft, technician, and engineering individual contributors. As a leader, fosters a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong customer and safety focus that embraces inclusion and diversity, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement and empowerment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the people leader for maintenance and engineering team and assures proper staffing levels.
  • Owns performance management process for the team.
  • Oversees functional/administrative goals and for establishing the budget that is consistent with the business needs.
  • Drives maintenance productivity initiatives to achieve maintenance excellence relating to quality, cost, and time.
  • Engages with Maintenance Expertise Center and global/regional experts to ensure best practices are implemented and developed for global use.
  • Ensures global best practices are fully implemented and utilized.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in production, reliability, or maintenance capacity.
  • Professional Engineering licensing in a Canadian province or territory (APEGA, PEO, etc).
  • Experience with SAP work processes and inventory is an asset.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.

  • Environmental, Health, and Safety: Strong ability to identify, assess, and act on EH&S scope, behaviors, or actions.
  • Leadership: Coaching of employees and other staff on technical and behavioral aspects of maintaining a safe, reliable chemical facility.
  • Strategic and Innovative Thinking: Ability to prioritize multiple requests and provide the technical skills to coach the team on execution.
