Core Function:
Distributed Systems Batch and Console Operator
Perform Computer Operation duties per documented processes and procedures. This includes a working knowledge of customer system environment with ability to interact, troubleshoot issues and work independently in a 7/24/365 Environment.
Shift work and ability to be on site is required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Duties include:
- Monitoring Network devices which include Routers, Switches, Hubs, Gateways, Firewalls, and resource availability, reliability and performance using Shared Tivoli On Demand Event Management services.
- Respond to alerts automatically generated by Monitoring Tools (Viewpoint, Netview, Tivoli, Omnibus, etc..)
- ArcSignt and Nagios used to monitor Multiple Security Services Including, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Services, Managed Firewalls (Perimeter and Desktop), Web Content Filtering, Email Anti-Spam, and Email Encryption
- Perform a general health checking review each day to ensure the systems are working and no alerts or system errors or problems can be seen
- Perform Level 1 Problem Determination Procedure (Pinging Servers, Network Devices/ subordinates.)
- Perform level 2 Problem Determination on alerts. (eg.. filesystem / CPU checks)
- Escalate incidents to applicable support Teams
- Document all incidents encountered with detailed steps taken.
- Escalate to 3rd party vendors when necessary to resolution.
- Monitor TSM backups via Trinity. Escalate Missed or Failed backups.
- Monitor OSS link monitor and restart any failed links
- Monitor daily backups and respond to any issues. tape Mounts, bad tapes, rerun backup on failure
- Support Help desk and respond to requests
- Execute run sheet / batch items that need to be checked or executed
- Reset/restart links, communication lines, devices, Monitors, printers, GUIs
- Terminate GNM transactions
- Complete OMS Application upgrades/release as required
- Recycle applications as required.
- ID Administration
- Perform Server Reboots as requested
- Readiness Enablement Testing (testing new servers for alerts.)

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience, preferably in a Data Center Operations environment.
- Intermediate understanding of Windows, AIX/Unix, and Network monitoring environments
- Knowledge of batch job monitoring & scheduling tools such as ESP, Control-M, CA-7, and TWS/OPC
- Knowledge of Distributed Systems devices such as, Servers, hubs, routers, switches, gateways, fire walls
- Knowledge of Outlook, ticketing systems (Maximo, Servicenow, Remedy, Cherwell)
- Be familiar with System Monitoring Tools (Viewpt, Netview, Tivoli, Omnibus, etc..) and processes
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment.
- Strong experience in 1st level problem determination and reporting
- Understand Problem Management & Change Management requirements
- Ability to multitask with a high attention to detail.
- Must be able and willing to learn new tasks/skills as required
- Must be able to communicate and understand verbal, written and electronic instructions in English and French.
- Must have or have ability to obtain L2 Secret clearance

General Office Environment
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
