A healthcare organization in Edmonton is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist I to produce high quality diagnostic images and maintain patient-centered care. The Diagnostic Imaging MRI Technologist I works in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, multi-modality environment. Your responsibilities will include high quality imaging techniques on both and scanners, delivering exceptional patient and family centered care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff. The Royal Alex Hospital is unique with regards to specialized imaging services offered to both outpatient and inpatient populations which includes fetal, cardiac, breast, and prostate imaging as well as angiography. Staff adhere to the Royal Alex Way and take pride in our Inner City Hospital.
As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Active or eligible registration with Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Ability to perform fetal, cardiac, breast, biopsy, peripheral angiography imaging, and experience on a 3T VIDA MR system IV and medication administration necessary. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, push, pull stretchers with patients and equipment, and lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Demonstrated proficiency in organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Displayed ability to assume personal responsibility and work effectively within a team environment while showing initiative, judgement and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Keen interest in professional growth and proven track record of professionalism with patients. IV, medication administration, and CVAD training an asset.
