Job Description

The De Beers Group of Companies has an opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated individual to join the Supply Chain department at the Gahcho Kué Mine site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, this position is responsible for the safe and effective movement of goods and material at the mine site as requested by site departments and contractors via air and seasonal ground transportation. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and offload freight from various aircraft types and ground transport vehicles.
  • Pack and prepare materials and equipment for delivery or backhaul transport.
  • Coordinate and deliver requested materials to site departments and contractors.

Material Management

  • Receive, verify, and unload incoming materials.
  • Organize materials for safe and efficient access in designated storage areas.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and report inventory levels.

System & Process Support

  • Process material reservations and issue items to end users.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to logistics activities.

Aerodrome Operations

  • Support aircraft operations including de-icing, refueling, baggage handling, marshalling, and freight handling.

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate a variety of equipment including:
    • Stand-up and counterbalance forklifts
    • Telehandlers
    • Pickup trucks and cube vans
    • Tractor trailers
    • Aircraft de-icing and refueling trucks
    • Loaders and crew buses

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, organized (5S), and hazard‑free storage yard and laydown area.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, or transportation operations.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment (certifications preferred).
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and material handling procedures.
  • Willingness to work in a remote, fly‑in fly‑out environment on a rotational schedule.

This role is based within the Supply Chain team and is a site-based position that will be a (2) two weeks on, (2) weeks off rotation.

Qualifications

Formal Qualifications:

  • Currently residing and legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Certification and experience operating equipment listed above.
  • Five (5) years’ experience working within a warehouse & logistics environment preferably within the mining industry.
  • Five (5) years’ experience with passenger & cargo air transport including aircraft refueling & de‑icing.
  • Previous experience with winter road trucking operations.
  • Knowledge in inventory management methods and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organization and coordination skills, initiative, professionalism and dependability.
  • Willingness to work shift work.
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross‑cultural work environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP and MS Office.
  • Experience utilizing barcode technology.
  • Dangerous good certification for ground (TDG) and air (IATA) freight.
Preference

Preference will be given to Members of the Deninu Kué, Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation, North Slave Métis Alliance, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation, followed by non‑indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories.
