As the Logistics and Equipment Director within Pomerleau’s Major Projects team, you will be responsible for strategic planning, compliance, and integrated management of the supply chain, logistics operations, equipment, and site facilities. Working on large-scale construction projects ranging from $500 million to several billion dollars, you will have the opportunity to drive cost optimization, operational performance, safety, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you will do
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics and supply chain operations, including setting objectives and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance of logistics processes and maintain ISO 9001/14001 certification for the department.
  • Oversee the entire supply chain process, from consumables inventory management to production planning and distribution.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels to maintain optimal stock while minimizing surpluses and shortages.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in logistics and supply chain operations and implement profitable strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry regulations, customs requirements, and trade compliance standards to ensure organizational adherence.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable site supply.
  • Lead teams responsible for yard operations, warehouse, temporary power, temporary installations, and fleet management.
  • Manage and track the preventive maintenance program for the equipment fleet.
  • Collaborate proactively with procurement and site teams to analyze and plan future needs.
  • Evaluate equipment based on condition, maintenance costs, and operational needs, and make recommendations for replacement and/or acquisition.
  • Work closely with the construction team to create synergy, reduce operational costs, and optimize processes.
  • Manage the logistics budget (maintenance, equipment, yard, and warehouse).
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture and proactively implement best practices.
This role could be for you if you have
  • University degree relevant to the role or in supply chain management.
  • 10 years of experience in fleet and/or supply chain management.
  • Solid experience in team supervision, leadership, and change management.
  • Proven experience in heavy machinery mechanics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong operational, business, and strategic acumen.
  • High level of autonomy and ability to manage emergencies effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership; able to motivate and mobilize teams toward a common goal, both hierarchically and through influence.
